Hi everyone!

Happy Thursday! We hope everyone is having a great day, the weekend is almost here! Also to those who celebrate, we wish everyone a wonderful last day of Hanukkah. Here’s to celebrations all ’round! “He puzzled and puzzled till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. Maybe Christmas, he thought… doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps… means a little bit more” – The Grinch

Time for some holiday cheer on the blog! Today’s holiday question is: What is your favorite holiday ornament? For myself, I would say the angel ornament my mom got for me when I was starting high school to “replace” my “Baby’s First Christmas” ornament I had unfortunately broken when I was 5. Even though it’s not the original ornament, my angel still means so much to me and how much I truly adore my mommy! Let’s hear from our design studio team:

ShannenMy favorite ornament is from my first Christmas. It’s brass with beautiful Christmas themed engravings including the year I was born. As tradition, my 3 sisters & I make sure to hang our own each year to make the holiday season official

Valeria: My favourite Christmas ornament is this mega old plastic Santa that used to belong to my mom. It doesn’t match any of the other ornaments in the tree but we adore it and always make sure it’s there!

MarionMy Mum has a beautiful tradition around this time of year. Each Christmas, she buys someone the gift of a slender, sleepy Saint Nicholas from a wood carver who comes to a craft fair in Ottawa where she lives. Two years ago I was living in my own household for the first time – ie. not with roommates – and to celebrate, she gave me a sleepy St. Nick of my own. My Santa’s eyes are covered by two tufts of white hair and his nose is just a nub poking out from his mass of beard and moustache. He’s perfect and he makes me think of my wonderful, generous Mum.

Andra: The Christmas decorations that mean the most to me are a string of lights that are also little bells. I love them because the bell lights also sing Christmas songs. We’ve had them for 15 years and they still work perfectly!

Juan: I have a tradition in my house that I’ve had forever of having a nativity scene. And every night, when my 5 kids have gone to bed, my wife and I move the tiny figures of Mary and Joseph a little closer to the stable so that when my kids wake up in the morning, they can see that Mary and Joseph have traveled over night. On the night of the 24th, Mary and Joseph arrive at the stable and at midnight, baby Jesus appears in the manger. Over the course of the 12 days following Christmas, the three magi approach from three different directions, following a star. On the 12th day of Christmas, which is epiphany, they arrive at the stable and give gifts to the baby. The kids put some water and a bit of grass for the camels.

It’s Thankful Thursday on the blog, and today we are sharing with you an exceptionally special endeavor, Medi-Monsters. Medi-Monsters was started by Tonya Wilson and her son, Trace, as a joint venture to provide loving monsters to comfort children battling cancer or a life-threatening condition.

Tonya: There are approximately 46 children in the US diagnosed with some form of cancer every single school day. My son was one of those 46 on August 5, 2010. Thankfully he is now cancer free. Medi-monsters was developed to help alleviate some of those fears associated with treatment.

Going through any illness is a scary thing. I cannot even begin to imagine how difficult it would be for little kids, with the many doctor appointments and treatments, but Medi-Monsters tries to alleviate some of that fear with their cuddlers. As Tonya states, “this monster is guaranteed to gobble up all fears and scary stuff and is provided free of charge to a child”. They are sweet, soft, and the perfect friend. Such an incredible venture!

A couple of months ago, we donated some of our fabric to Medi-Monsters to help comfort more children, and it had been such a heart-warming experience. We want to thank Tonya and Trace, not only for introducing and welcoming us to Medi-Monsters, but for also being such amazing and selfless role models to us and everyone. Tonya and Trace – you are both superstars! :)

Happy Thursday! We hope everyone is having a terrific day. Today is also Thanksgiving, so we wanted to wish all our American friends a Happy Thanksgiving!! Carving of the turkey, cranberry sauce, apple pies, mashed potatoes, roasted butternut squash…oh how yummy! But of course besides a delicious feast, Thanksgiving is also the time to set everything else aside and enjoy the company of your loved ones. We wish everyone a loving, safe, and blessed Thanksgiving weekend! :)

Being that today on the blog is also Thankful Thursday, we thought it would be the perfect time to give thanks to everyone who has supported us. Along the way, we have met and been inspired by so many incredible people. We also wanted to thank all of you – thank you for all the positive and wonderful feedback on our designs & endeavors, and for sharing your projects with us. We absolutely adore seeing our fabric designs being crafted into your fantastic projects and they always put a smile on our faces. We have much to be thankful for, a list that would truly be endless, but we will end with a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has positively touched our hearts. Hi everyone!

Happy Thursday! We hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

A little quote inspiration for today: “Life is a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint on it you can” – Danny Kaye

It’s time for this week’s Thankful Thursday post, and today we are taking the time to thank Michelle from Hypernoodle! A little bit on Michelle and Hypernoodle: Michelle started a Etsy shop dedicated to her love for fabric, and being able to share unique and on-trend fabrics with other fabric-enthusiasts. The once small Etsy shop quickly expanded, and Michelle has since been able to add many more incredible fabric lines to her shop, even launching her own website. With it, she also has a blog and Etsy shop dedicated to her handmade treasures. Camelot Fabrics is honored to be one of the fabric lines featured in her shop!

We’ve had a great bond with Hypernoodle, and for this past Fall Quilt Market Michelle sewed a stunning project for us. She used a darling Pleated Ruffle Coat pattern from Amelie & Henri Patterns using our Design Studio Collection fabric, and it was definitely a “wow” piece! Any little girl would feel like a true princess in this coat. Thank you so much, Michelle, for the beautiful piece. As well, Hypernoodle & ‘Maureen Cracknell Handmade had hosted a giveaway with bundles of our fabric at the beginning of November (over now!) but we wanted to also thank her for that. We always love reading what people think about our designs!

Hi everyone!

Happy Thursday!! With the weekend just around the corner, we hope you all have had a terrific and productive week thus far! Today we bring to you our weekly Thankful Thursday post and this week we are taking the time to thank the Glimpse Reviews blog.

The Glimpse Reviews blog is run by two lovely ladies, Andrea and Julie, from the Canadian Prairies. Their blog focuses on local, Canadian-based stores and businesses – something we definitely support and appreciate being Canadian-born! Both being mommies, their blog posts focus on kid-friendly, DIY, and natural products (and everything in-between!) that are all Canadian-based. As well, they host a multitude of different giveaways to their readers (and who doesn’t love giveaways, right?). We definitely think you will love all their informative postings and recommend you take a little glimpse at their blog (see what we did there? ;))!

The Glimpse ladies chose their favorite fabric designs from us, and created some very special projects that they shared on their blog! Julie chose our Stitched Garden Collection and she sewed a darling, ruffled skirt for her little daughter. The Stitched Garden designs are girly and innocent, and made the perfect little twirl skirt.

Andrea decided to go in the opposite direction of the gender spectrum, and chose our beloved Star Trek Collection to make something for her little boy. She sewed a backseat car organizer for him, so now he can easily store away all his toys from his three sisters. Such a functional and useful project, and it looks fantastic with our Star Trek fabric! Be sure to read the Glimpse review blog post on Camelot Fabrics here.

Thank you so much to the Glimpse girls for the wonderful blog post and projects with our fabric! We are so thrilled that you love our designs. We hope you have enjoyed this week’s Thankful Thursday post!

PS: Have you seen yesterday’s Winsday? You could win our Birds of a Feather FQ Bundle by telling us what you would create with the fabric. Comment and enter on the blog post here. Good luck! We will be announcing the winner on next week’s Winsday post.

14 November

Hi everyone!

We hope everyone is having a lovely Thursday! By the near end of the workweek, we simply just want the week to be over without realizing that wishing for the weekend would mean wistfully passing through the many moments leading up to it. Sometimes we need to stop and recognize the beauty that life truly holds, even in those stressful and long but brief periods of time.

That is why we’ve decided to dedicate our Thursdays to appreciating the people around us. We truly are so lucky and blessed. In the heart of another Thankful Thursday, today we are proudly taking the time to thank our selfless #SewSocial partners, Quilts for Kids.

We launched our #SewSocial Project this Summer, partnering with Quilts for Kids, Mary Fons, and the Mothers of Professional Basketball Players. It has been such a fantastic journey thus far, and we hope we can continue our #SewSocial for years to come. In collaborating with Quilts for Kids, we have been able to create lapquilts that will comfort children in need. Our goal is to brighten these children’s days by giving them something loving and warm. It truly has been such a heartfelt and inspiring experience working with such an altruistic group of people.

Quilts for Kids launched in 2000 by founder Linda Arye when she started out using fabric samples from landfills to create quilts for children in need. 13 years later, it is now an international organization that donates over 30,000 quilts every year. The Quilts for Kids mission statement is “transforming fabric into patchwork quilts that comfort children with life-threatening illnesses and children of abuse”. They have since been able to bring so many smiles to children every year and we are so proud and honored to be partnered with such a beautiful cause.

We are also donating 10% of the proceeds from our Take Flight by Vita Mechachonis fabric collection to Quilts for Kids! Check out the full collection on our website here.
