Hi everyone!

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a fantastic week – so excited and ready for the weekend!! :)

Time to end a great week with our Fan Friday! Today we are featuring a fun Coraline Laptop Bag by Valerie Higgins of Eldra Ann Designs. Eldra Ann Designs is a small Etsy shop that Valerie started last year, as a way to share her fun project creations. Sewing is something she learnt from her mom and grandmothers, and now is an enjoyable hobby that helps relieve the daily stress (oh, we can so relate!). She said that she can get lost into a project, way into the night, but loves every minute of it. She opened up Eldra Ann Designs to share with others, specifically creating custom orders for people.

One of the custom orders Valerie received was for a laptop bag. She used an altered version of Swoon Patterns (one of our faves!) Dakota Bag and used our Coraline by Camelot Design Studio collection as the main fabric, including a fun interior and strap detailing. We love the use of the coral pattern, while keeping the rest of the bag neutral with a gray fabric. The bag is finished with two hidden snaps, and makes for the perfect, stylish bag for carrying your laptop – either to work or school!

Thank you for the fabric love, Valerie! We’re so glad you love our Coraline Collection and chose it for this bag. We adore it! You can find more from Valerie on her Instagram and Etsy. Have an incredible weekend!!!

29 May

Hi everyone,

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all are having a great day. As well, Happy Cinco de Mayo, to those who celebrate!

On to this week’s How To’s Day! Today we are featuring another awesome Swoon Patterns project that we had sewn in-house, with our Elixir Collection. Our Elixir Collection is packed with bold purple, navy, and mint hues in fun geometric patterns. The freshness of this collection makes for beautiful accessory and clothing pieces because they add happy pops of color to anything! We decided to use Elixir to create Swoon Pattern’s Vivian Handbag & Traveler.

The large-sized bag would make for the perfect baby bag or weekender tote. The pockets, one located on each side, make for a convenient spot for a baby or water bottle, and the double straps make it easy to carry around. We chose a fun triangle geometric pattern for the body and a more muted, broken herringbone design for the handles and outer shell – a great combination that is playful, but still neutral! We love how this Vivian bag turned out!!

You can find the pattern for the Vivian Handbag & Traveler at Swoon Patterns. It is such a versatile and stylish bag; we are so obsessed with ours!! (psst. Mother’s Day is this weekend!) Elixir will be one of the collections we’ll be featuring at Quilt Market (booth 101), so be sure to stop by to see the Vivian in person. And with that, have a fantastic day!

Hi everyone,

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all are having a great day. If you haven’t seen yet, we’ve launched three collections yesterday – Star Wars: Immortals, Marvel: Immortals, and DC Comics: Immortals. Yup, all of our bestselling designs from our past collections are BACK!

Time for this week’s How To’s Day! Today we are featuring a gorgeous duffel bag pattern, the Dallas Vintage Duffel by Swoon Patterns. We had the duffel made up in-house with our Botanical by Alisse Courter Collection, and are obsessed with our duffel! We love that it is over-sized because it makes for a perfect weekender bag, or for travelling. Travelling may not always be the most thrilling thing, but the Dallas Vintage Duffel will at least put you at ease when you’re waiting for your suitcases. Yours won’t be the drab, dark one! ;)

The duffel’s pattern was wonderful to follow along to, and the outcome is a structured bag you’ll use for years to come! With our Botanical Collection, it gives the duffel a fantastic vintage vibe. Soo in love with this one!

21 April

Hi everyone,

Happy Thursday! We hope you all are having a fantastic day. It’s Chinese New Year (or Lunar New Year), and it’s the year of the sheep. We wish you all a wonderful year full of happiness, prosperity, and memories.

Today’s Thankful Thursday is featuring a lovely pattern shop that we have had the pleasure of working with. We have worked with Alicia of Swoon Sewing Patterns for our Quilt Market shows, and her bags are always a hit. Swoon Sewing Patterns offers pretty, modern patterns for bags and other accessories, and are one of our favorite pattern shops online. From travel bags to her oversized clutch, there’s a pattern for just about every occasion.

Each pattern is easy-to-follow and clear, and the end result is a gem, made by you, that will not look “homemade”. Alicia is a graphic designer by trade, who fell in love with sewing. She found that the commercial patterns she used were not always user-friendly, and decided to try her hand at pattern-making. From there, Swoon Sewing Patterns has only grown – from Etsy to quilt shops – to become many sewers’ preferred, “go-to” pattern shop. And we couldn’t agree more!

Alicia chose our Design Studio Collection to be on the cover of her Dorothy Day Tripper Bag Pattern. We got super excited!! She had made this bag for one of our past QM shows, and everyone LOVED it…so we are so happy that she chose to feature it as the cover. It is stunning, and would be the perfect, stylish weekend or diaper bag!

Thank you so much, Alicia, for featuring our Design Studio Collection on your cover. We have had so much fun working with you, and hope we get to again soon!! You can find more from Swoon Sewing Patterns on her website, Facebook Page, Instagram, and Pinterest. Have an amazing rest of the day, everyone!
