Time for this week’s Thankful Thursday! Today we are featuring one of our incredible pattern designers, Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting Designs. Melissa is a wife and stay-at-home mommy of five by day, quilting enthusiast by night. Melissa and her family have moved several times across the country, but before the first move, she asked her mom to teach her how to quilt. She wanted a new hobby to keep her busy, and through it, found a new love. She began sewing baby blankets for her friends, and her passion for sewing only grew. She started Happy Quilting in 2010 and, soon after, started to design and sell her own quilt patterns.

We had the opportunity to collaborate with Melissa for our Free Projects Program, and Melissa created two fantastic projects for us. The first is our Hang Time Quilt (above in our Fresh Solids), which is a unique and modern cross quilt that features different fabric patterns and colorways perfectly. We love the intricacy of the design, which would make for a stunning quilt as a bedspread or wall decor.

As well, Melissa designed a Peaks and Valleys Table Runner for us which is a fun zig-zagged table runner that would add a bit of oomph to any coffee table or dining table decor. It looks so pretty in our Opposites Attract by Jackie McFee Collection.

Thank you so much, Melissa, for the wonderful collaboration and for the gorgeous project patterns! We are excited for what’s to come. Happy Tuesday! We hope everyone is having an absolutely wonderful day so far. We launched our Fall 2014 Collections last week and all the responses have been so amazing!! We are so happy that you love all of our new collections, and can’t wait to see all the lovely projects created by you with them. If you haven’t seen all of our newest collections yet, you can read about them all on our blog. As well, check out our website for all the designs.

In the heart of our new collections, today’s How To’s Day is featuring one of them – Elixir by Camelot Design Studio. As well, we have launched a new quilt design for our Free Projects Program by one of our wonderful project designers, Anne Sullivan of Play Crafts, Our Festival Quilt is a stunner – it is so pretty and modern, and the perfect quilt for a couch spread or as well as wall decor. The diamond blocks give the illusion of being the foreground of the quilt, almost as if there is a 3-dimensional effect. Our Festival Quilt has a whimsical flair, the fabric pieces not perfectly equal or in any special order, which gives it a more intricate and fun look.

Our Festival Quilt looks so pretty with our Elixir Collection; the mint, grey, and navy hues working perfectly with one another in this quilt design. We love how the turquoise prints are used within the squares, which creates that modern 3-dimensional look. So, so pretty!

It’s time for this week’s How To’s Day! Today we are featuring one of our exclusive quilt designs from our Free Projects Program – our Chevron Arrows Quilt by From Marta With Love. Marta from From Marta With Love created this absolutely stunning, modern quilt for us that we absolutely adore – it’s an art piece in itself that can be showcased on your favorite couch or bed, or even to decorate a blank wall. We love the perpendicular feel of the chevron arrows, giving this quilt a unique and festive look that is perfect with both contemporary or more modern fabric designs.

We decided to use our Singin’ the Blues by Jackie McFee Collection and the striking blue hues look fantastic with this quilt. Time to share another awesome project with you all! For this week’s How To’s Day, we are featuring our effortlessly cozy Simple Stripes Baby Blanket! Our Simple Stripes Baby Blanket is the perfect project for those who may be intimidated by quilting because the result is a beautiful patchwork design. This baby blanket is modern and chic with its, as the name suggests, simple striped pattern – you can choose to create a fun ombre effect with bold solids or perhaps tell a story using some novelty fabrics…the possibilities are infinite.

We chose to use our Playground Collection, which adds a whimsical and “playful” feel to the blanket. With its fun numbers, balloons, and playground attractions, this Playground baby blanket is perfect for any little nugget who loves adventure! :)

Time for this week’s Thankful Thursday! Today we are taking the time to thank one of our wonderful project designers, Jen of Tie Dye Diva! Jen didn’t start off her career path in the sewing patterns world, but has always had a love for crafting and sewing. Jen was working a 12-hour desk job before realizing she wanted to do something of her true passion. In 2007, she started to create downloadable sewing patterns that were easy-to-follow and fun…and she was able to turn her passion into a business!

Jen is now a designer of sewing patterns, focusing on classing clothing designs for babies and kids. There is also a good mix in difficulty level, from patterns for a beginner sewer to an advanced seamstress. Jen has a wonderful library of sewing patterns, from adorable little girl dresses, to little boy pants, to cute plushies, and more. Her patterns have also been featured in several publications, such as Sewn Hats by Carla Hegeman Crim and Stash Books’ Hat Shop: 25 Projects to Sew, from Practical to Fascinating (Design Collective) , compiled by Susanne Woods, and is a workshop instructor at Craftsy.

Jen’s sewing patterns can be found on her Etsy Shop, as well as on her website.We got into contact with Jen after Spring Quilt Market, and had the absolute pleasure of partnering with her on a sewing pattern project. I LOVE ruffles and bows, so Jen created the most *adorable* Tunic Dress and Bloomers Play Set…featuring, yes you guessed it, ruffles AND bows. LOVE!! They are the absolute cutest things ever, and look even more sweet with our Petite Plume Collection. We are so in love with this play set! How adorable would a little tot look in this? *Swoon*
