Hi everyone!

Happy Friday! We hope you all had a fantastic week – we are so happy for the long weekend… means extra time for sewing projects, quilting, and crafting! Anyone working on any fun projects this weekend? We’d love to know :)

Time for our weekly Fan Friday, and today we’re sharing the perfect project to kick start this long weekend. When we saw this In The Navy bunting banner by Little Birds Boutique, we knew we just had to share. Fran, owner and designer at Little Birds Boutique, is a Landscape Architect by profession. In 2007, she became a full-time stay-at-home mommy to her 3 year old twins. She started sewing after the birth of her girls, and never looked back. Her passion for sewing continued, and she began Little Birds Boutique as a way to share her creations with the world.

She started with bibs and blankets, but quickly expanded to kid’s clothing, headbands, bags, and even more adorable accessories for little kiddos. She loves the whole spectrum of running her business, from the initial design to the final product being sent out to its new home. And when she’s not sewing for her business, she’s still sewing things for her family – needless to say, she found her true calling!

We were so thrilled to see that Fran used our In The Navy by Jackie McFee Collection for her bunting banners. They look so fun and happy, perfect for a nautical-themed party or nursery room!! We love that she chose a fun mix of all the patterns, keeping it fresh with the navy and hot pink color scheme. As well, we love that the top stitch, though a necessity, also adds a fun element to the banner with its zig-zag pattern. We absolutely adore this bunting banner, and could imagine it brightening up any space – love the idea of it being above a bed or strung along a crib!

The official, last Monday of August!! Today we are sharing our It’s a Bird’s Life by Heather Rosas Collection for this week’s Moody Monday. It’s a Bird’s Life brings you the majestic-ness of a beautiful and temperate field of fresh blooms. The sounds of the birds happily chirping, the smell of the luscious florals, and the feeling of the crisp air – that is all the things that It’s a Bird’s Life reminds us of. This collection is a mix of warm grey, coral, yellow, and mint hues in whimsical designs of birds, birdhouses, flowers, and geometric patterns. We could imagine a darling little girl’s half-circle skirt or little tot’s tote in this collection. And, how about a floral & bird infused quilt or two for your bedroom or living room? LOVE! One collection that reminds us of the prettiness of our It’s a Bird’s Life is that of Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2014 RTW Collection. Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2014 Collection  encapsulates a very whimsical, nature-inspired feel to it with floral vines decorating the clothing pieces and printed scenes from Greece. Gabbana describes the collection as “an unconscious dream”, as the clothing have a contrasting feel of real and what is irrational, which can only be found in dreams. We get that sense of fantasy and imagination in this collection, which inspired us with this week’s Moody Monday for It’s a Bird’s Life. Happy Friday! We hope everyone is having a great end to the week. To end another great week, we have our Fan Friday for you. Today we are sharing an incredible project made by Nicole Wells; she tagged us on Instagram and we just had to share it with you all! Nicole’s son is entering the world of Kindergarten this fall, and he wasn’t especially excited. Shopping for school supplies wasn’t much of a success, so she decided to make something that he would get excited for! She decided to make him his very own super cool backpack, and let him choose the fabric. He chose our Angry Birds Star Wars collection because he loves the “Pork Side”! Nicole said that he was so ecstatic about the whole process, down to waiting for the fabric to arrive! So great to hear that, with his awesome, new backpack, he can’t wait to show it off on his first day of school! :)

We cannot believe that Nicole sewed up her very own backpack (in an uber cool collection, we might add haha) – it looks incredible! Nicole has an online shop, Ni-Chern Design Shop, where you can check out her bags, wristlets, pouches, aprons, and more! You can also find Nicole on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for even more. It’s also time for our Thankful Thursday! Today we are featuring a beautiful magazine, Sewing World Magazine, who was so kind to feature us in their latest June 2014 issue. Sewing World Magazine is a monthly magazine dedicated to contemporary projects (quilts, bags, clothing, and more!), delicious fabrics, and sewing techniques & interviews. This modern magazine is bright, fun, and fresh…and such a delight to flip through. Their editor, Julie Briggs, has such a great eye for all things pretty! In their latest June issue, they have included some Summer-inspired project ideas (their cover page pillow is a stunner!) and a 16 page special on kids’ makes…and so much more! We definitely recommend this gorgeous, and equally informative, magazine to all our fellow modern, sewing enthusiasts!

Our Birds of a Feather by Allison Cole Collection was featured as the monthly “The Fabric Stash“! This regular, monthly feature is gorgeous and inspiring…just look at all those vivid colors! Who would not be inspired? “The Fabric Stash” is such a brilliant idea, and we are so honored to have been chosen for this month. They included a little write up on Allison, as well as the collection images, and stockist details. So so fun!

Happy Thursday!! We hope everyone is having an excellent day! We are super excited for Mother’s Day weekend: Moms (and future moms!), what would be your ideal day of relaxation? :) We would love to know!

It’s time for this week’s Thankful Thursday! Today we are featuring one of wonderfully kind and talented quilt designers, Larene Smith of The Quilted Button! Larene began her for sewing at a very young age – when her mum warned her not to touch her sewing machine, as a child, Larene only became even more intrigued. As she got older, she asked her mum to teach her to make a quilt and learnt to a 9 patch quilt. From there, Larene’s love for sewing, quilting, and fabric only grew!

But it was her connection with the Material Possessions Quilt Shop that really got her started. They saw the creative spark in Larene – her designs were unique and she had a lot of different techniques, and she should be teaching a class! She met with Wendy, and started off with her first teaching class. From there, Larene has continued her passion for quilting, creating so many beautiful quilt patterns, and of course teaching!

We had the privilege of partnering with Larene, who has created some really lovely quilt patterns for our Free Projects Program. All of her patterns are easy to follow and concise, and it has been an absolutely pleasure working with Larene thus far. She has been very guiding and sweet to us, as we are still learning new things everyday about the quilting and pattern world! Some of Larene’s quilt patterns include Border Blast, Diamond Sparkle, and Whimsical…and there are more to come!

Aren’t these quilt designs just stunning? We are so happy to have found Larene and are so ecstatic for what’s to come!! And yes, there may possibly be a physical quilt coming very soon ;) Stay tuned!
