Quilt Market Recap: Spring 2018

June 8th, 2018 by Camelot Fabrics

in Portland, OR

What a trip! The show was full of inspiration, as always, and our heads are still spinning a bit. Before we lose that after-show-glow, here’s a quick recap of booth highlights from Portland.

Fresh Solids + Mixology

in stock

We showed our evergreen solids and blenders on mini header cards, each one a pocket-sized cascade of colour. Between all the different patterns and hues, we ended up with quite a cluster of these little gems!

Safari Dreams

by Teresa Chan
Delivery: November 2018

This part of the booth was pretty special. In addition to nice big samples from the collection, we were thrilled to show the  adorable “Wild Babies – Giraffe” mini-quilt by Janeen van Niekerk. As if the project wasn’t ambitious enough, the center block was pieced in one marathon sewing session by Montreal quilter
Stephanie Baldwin.

We captured Stephanie’s work in a stop-motion video, and you can find fabric requirements for the paper-pieced giraffe block on our website.

City Girl

by Sara B.
Delivery: December 2018

Sara Berrenson’s latest collection takes her watercolour illustrations in a fresh new direction: straight to New York City! Of course we just had to show off the bold cotton panels along the feature wall of our booth.

Winter Woods

by Sara B.

From the heart of Manhatten to the solitude of a snowy forest: Sara’s Winter Woods collection is delicately seasonal with its reindeer, red birds and holiday palette. Cardinals, birch logs and a striking lap quilt encapsulated the woodsy vibe.

This little squirrel stole our hearts this season … which may have a lot to do with our choice of the Love you forever log pillow as a Free DIY.

Fire Island Hosta Quilt

from Quiltster
in Fresh Solids + Mixology

In preparation for this season’s Market, we were delighted to collaborate with Quiltster and Quiltworx, who created this stunning Fire Island Hosta Quilt. We love the way the warm pinks & sea blues combine in a burst of tropical colour. And that incredible quilting! It’s all about the quilting, isn’t it?

The quilt pattern is available from Quiltworx.

See it in the Quiltster Gallery.

Quiltster subscribers can personalize pre-designed patterns with fabrics including our Fresh Solids + Mixology lines and April launch collections. The website gives accurate yardage calculations and lets users see the look of a finished quilt before buying supplies.

Read more on the Quilster blog.

And that’s a wrap! What were some of your favourite things about the Market this season? If you didn’t make it to Portland, what stood out for you among the collections you saw online? Tell us in the comments!

These fabric collections are really awesome. recently I was searching for some melton wool and coating weight wool in a rainbow of colors. And I found a beautiful collection of lightweight suiting wool with sophisticated patterns and colors from Fabric Warehouse.
