How To’s Day: Best Wishes Table Runner by Meadow Mist Designs
February 17th, 2015 by Camelot Fabrics
Hi everyone,
Happy Tuesday! We hope you all are having a lovely day. Today is Pancake Day in the UK and Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday. Lots of reasons to eat yummy food! ;)
Time for this week’s How To’s Day! Today we are featuring one of our wonderful projects from our Free Projects Program. Cheryl, of Meadow Mist Designs, created a stunning table runner pattern for us that we absolutely love. Her Best Wishes Table Runner is featured with our Paisley Please collection, the complimentary navy and orange hues working magically together. We love the simplicity and modern feel of this table runner, the perfect accessory to any bare table. Add some pretty white dishware, silver decor, and white tulips…and you have yourself a beautiful, cottage-inspired table setting.

BEST WISHES TABLE RUNNER
Project Designer: Cheryl Brickey of Meadow Mist Designs
Fabric Featured: Paisley Please by Jackie McFee for Camelot Fabrics
OTHER TOOLS & SUPPLIES:
– Sewing machine & coordinating thread
– Rotary cutter & fabric shears
– Straight edge ruler & measuring tape
– Straight pins
– Fabric marker or pencil
NOTES:
– WOF = width of fabric (42”)
- Unless otherwise directed, sew all seams with a scant 1/4” seam allowance.
- Please wash, dry & iron your fabric before beginning, and trim selvages.
The block finishes at 8” and the finished quilt measures at 16” x 48”. You can easily change the size of the runner by adding or subtracting blocks to fit your table.
BLOCK ASSEMBLY:
1. Mark a diagonal line corner-to-corner on the Wrong Side of each of your Fabric B & Fabric C squares.
2. Place (1) Fabric B square on the upper left hand corner of (1) Fabric A square, Right Sides facing. Sew the (2) squares together along the diagonal line marked on the Fabric B square.
3. Trim the excess fabric 1/4” outside of the stitch line and press the seam open.
4. Repeat Steps 2-3 with a Fabric C square, this time sewing it to the bottom right-hand corner of the Fabric A square.
This completes the block, which should measure 8-1/2” square.Make (12).
MAKING THE TOP:
1. Join the blocks in (2) rows as shown. Press the seams of the first row to one side (left in the diagram), and the seams of the second row to the other side (right). This will make it easier to line up the seams in the next step.
2. Join the (2) rows. Align the seams between each block by rubbing them between your finger & thumb until you feel the seams “lock” into place – this is the result of having your seam allowances pressed in opposite directions.
FINISHING:
1. Join your Fabric D strips end-to-end and press to make binding.
2. Layer the table runner top, batting & backing. Baste, quilt & bind as desired.
