Happy Tuesday! It’s the second day of the week, but the first day back for us Canadians. It was an absolutely fantastic long weekend, with the weather being absolutely gorgeous – the perfect amount of coolness and sunshine = my kind of weather! We’ve got an absolutely brilliant How To’s Day for you. Today we are sharing our tutorial for our Lattice Table Runner – a gorgeous quilted table runner that will instantly add some sparkle to your dinning or coffee table! We absolutely LOVE switching up and playing around with room décor, because they are a fun way to change up a look quickly, and at a lower cost. We really love sharing our home décor projects with you because, not only are they great for sprucing up a room, but they are so much fun to make. Triple win!

Our Lattice Table Runner is such a beautiful centerpiece to add to any table; it is a statement piece on its own! The intricate latticework on the table runner makes for a very pretty, fun, and modern feel that would look great with any fabric choice. We really love how it looks with our What’s Cookin’ by Allison Cole, as we think it’d be the perfect attention-grabber for a dazzling dinning table! Match it up with some bright and colorful kitchen accessories, and you’ve got yourself a kitchen with a contemporary, but retro vibe. Absolute LOVE! Lattice Table Runner Tutorial

Fabric Requirements
The following cuts of What’s Cookin’ quilting cotton (44” wide) from Camelot Fabrics:

– Fabric A: 1/2 yd of 8140803 #2

– Fabric B: 3/8 yd of 8140804 #2

– Fabric C: 7/8 yd of 8140802 #3

– Fabric D: 1/4 yd of 8140805 #2

– Fabric E (binding): 3/8 yd of 8140804 #1

- Backing: 1 yd of 8140801 #1

Other Tools & Supplies

– Sewing machine

- Needle & coordinating thread

- Rotary cutter & mat

– Straight edge ruler & measuring tape

– Iron & pressing surface

- Fabric shears

– Fabric marker

– Straight pins / Quilt weights / Binding clips, as desired

Notes:

- Please wash, dry & iron your fabric before beginning.

- WOF = width of fabric.

- HST = half square triangle.

– When making the table runner’s top, sew all seams with the fabrics’ Right Sides together.

– When making a HST unit, use a generous 1/4” seam allowance. Otherwise, sew all seams with an accurate 1/4” seam allowance.

Cutting

1. HST units:

a) Place a 4” Fabric C square on top of a 4” Fabric B square, Right Sides together. Draw a diagonal line down the center of the Fabric C square as shown; stitch down either side of this line with a generous 1/4” seam allowance.

b) Cut along the center line, open the HST units and press the seams open. Their finished dimensions should be 3-1/2” square.
Make (30) Fabric A/C units and (30) Fabric B/C units.

c) Join the HST units in pairs as shown. Take care regarding the “slant” of each pair – once the pair is sewn, you cannot change the direction of the slant by rotating it.

d) Sew the HST unit pairs together in rows.

2. Crossover units:

a) Make (6) HST units from your Fabric B & C 4-1/2” squares in the same manner as you made the units in step 1. Their finished dimensions should be 4” square.

b) Place a 4” Fabric A square over each Fabric B/C unit and draw a diagonal line perpendicular to the HST seam as shown. Sew seams a generous 1/4” from either side of this line, cut down the line and press the seams open to make (2) Crossover units.

c) Join the Crossover units in pairs as shown.

d) Sew a 3-1/2” Fabric C square to either side of each Crossover pair.

3. Building the Center:

a) Sew the HST & Crossover rows together as shown.

4. Borders:

a) Make (4) HST units from your Fabric C & D 2-1/2” squares. Their finished dimensions should be 2” square.

b) Measure the long sides of the table runner’s Center and subtract 3” – cut (2) 2” wide strips to this length from Fabric C.

c) Sew the small C/D units to the ends of the Fabric C strips as shown to complete the Inner Borders.

d) Sew the Inner Borders to either side of the Center, with the Fabric C edge of each HST facing toward the Center and the Fabric D side facing away.

e) Cut (2) strips from Fabric D, 2” wide x the length of the Center. Sew them to the outer edges of the Inner Borders as shown in the Assembly Layout.

5. End Caps

a) Make (2) A/C HST units and (2) B/C HST units out of 4” squares – the units’ final dimensions should be 3-1/2” square. Sew these units together in pairs as shown.

b) Using 4” squares, make (8) Fabric C/D HST units. Sew (4) together in pairs, and sew the remaining (4) to the outer sides of the A/C & B/C pairs you just made.

c) Cut your (6) 3-1/2” Fabric D squares in half diagonally to make (12) right-angle triangles. Sew (4) of these triangles together in pairs as shown; sew the remaining (8) the the ends of the units you created in the previous step.

d) Sew the End Cap rows together as shown.

e) Sew the End Caps to the Center & Borders complete the table runner’s top.

Finishing:

Quilt & bind the table runner as desired.
